Downtown Northville Engagement Session

Perfectly manicured parks and the skyscrapers of Detroit are GREAT backdrops for an engagement session. They are so popular, and for good reason…they photograph amazingly! Isn’t something a bit more personal and meaningful to your relationship even better? This couple met at the pool in their apartment complex. She saw him, thought he was cute….and the rest is history!

We made sure to focus on all the beautiful spaces that were meaningful to their relationship. We started the day in Downtown Northville, a spot that they have gone on many date over the years. We strolled through the streets and outdoor shops, snapping photos along the way. We made our way over to Garage Grill and Fuel Bar. What a CUTE place! We all grabbed a seat at the bar and chatted over some prosessco and beer before heading out to a local green space.

Is there anything more swoon worthy than a man playing an acoustic guitar? Yet another thing that pulled this couple together so many years ago. We found a hilly spot and Chris immediately relaxed and poured himself into his music while Claire melted into him. It was seriously adorable.

We then headed to the spot that started it all….the POOL and their apartment complex. We found so many nooks and crannies around the complex, that we could have spend the entire session there. Chris had actually proposed right at the pool so it was only appropriate that we spend a lot of time there.

We popped a bottle as the last rays of sun set on the horizon and then headed inside. As I prepped my equipment and lighting for the indoor shoots, I was greeted and snuggled by Gatsboo, the cutest, snuggliest, black cat! The couple popped out adorned in matching Adidas tracksuits, snuggled their furbaby as I snapped away. The day ended with a playful (and competitive) game of Super Smash Brothers! There may or may not have been some cheating involved…haha!

Seriously THIS is the best kind of engagement session. There was such a variety of looks/locations all in a relatively close distance and it was ALL tailored specifically to this couple.
